There is an irony in the promise of an upcoming war. In the sky, you could see stars arranged in patterns that told wonderful stories of the heavens. Some people believe in progress, science, evolution, and they think that mankind could be better. But, many failed to see the darker side, as I did. As the troop movements and rumors of mutiny swirled around me, I found myself helpless to prove my innocence.

My sister Jax Anderson and I grew up as children of a deep-space-jump generation and came to the world six years after Mass Destruction War. My father was a war veteran of the E.M.D. 7th fleet and my mother, condemned to be on the oppressed side, suffered a lot in the times of Earth Military Directorate occupation. Jax could easily be driven by her mother’s stubbornness when she joined Union forces to fight for their so-called valiant cause to make Universe better place. Such foolishness.

I can argue and debate over the cause of our separation but widespread terror that threatens our Universe will soon erupt. So I guess, none of that really mattered. Our nightmares became reality after one of the distant military outposts was brutally attacked and destroyed by dangerous alien species known to humans as the Collective. Soon, they will be near the outer ridge of the Solar system. God help us all.
