As any avid Wheel of Time reader knows, The Dragon lead an assault on Shayol Ghul, producing seven seals to imprison The Dark One. As a final blow against The Dragon, The Dark One tainted the male half of the one power. This taint drove every male magic users, or channeller, insane. After a chaotic period, known as the breaking of the world, the women Aes Sedai rallied and destroyed the male channellers. During the chaos, only two of the seals were kept in Aes Sedai hands, hidden deep within The White Tower.
While The Wheel of Time is set in the same environments as the books, the immediate plot predates them. You're put into the role of The White Tower's Keeper of the Chronicles. You're second only to the Amyrlin Seat, arguably the most powerful woman in the world.
When the White Tower is attacked, and invaluable artifacts are stolen, you're taken into the Amyrlin's confidence and sent to bring them back. You quickly discover that the dark friend leading the assault, The Hound, is but a pawn in a greater game and was after one of the Dark One's seals, for an unknown purpose. The story escalates steadily to the end of the game, where it's wrapped up nicely.
